Privacy policy

Effective date

This policy took effect in July 2026, when Yard & Board (yardandboard.com) launched. We will update this page if our practices change, and we will update the date below when we do.

The short version

Our calculators run entirely in your browser. When you enter a mulch depth, a deck length, or a fence height, that number stays on your device and does the math there. We never send calculator inputs to a server, and we never store them. We have no user accounts, no newsletter, and no sign-up of any kind. We collect limited analytics data, described below, and we do not sell personal data.

Calculator inputs

Every calculator on this site (mulch, topsoil, board feet, deck boards, fence, deck stain, and any tools we add later) runs as client-side JavaScript. The math happens on your device, in your browser. Nothing you type into a calculator field is transmitted to us or to any third party, and nothing is stored after you close or reload the page. If you want to keep a result, save or copy it yourself before you leave.

Hosting

Yard & Board is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes standard web traffic data (such as IP address and request logs) as part of delivering the site, the same way any web host does. We do not separately collect or store this data ourselves.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, Google Analytics 4, or both, to understand how many people visit the site and which pages get used. These tools collect aggregate information such as pages visited, approximate location, device type, and referring site.

Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies and does not track individuals across sites. Google Analytics 4 does use cookies to distinguish visitors and sessions. If GA4 is active on a given page, you can decline or limit this tracking through your browser's cookie settings, a browser extension that blocks analytics scripts, or Google's own opt-out tools, including the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

We do not use analytics data to identify you personally, and we do not combine it with any other data source to build a profile of you.

Cookies

Cloudflare Web Analytics does not set cookies. Google Analytics 4, when active, sets cookies to measure visits and sessions. We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not use tracking pixels beyond what these analytics tools require. You can clear or block cookies at any time through your browser settings; doing so will not affect your ability to use the calculators.

Affiliate links

No affiliate links are live on Yard & Board today. If we add them in the future, some links to products or retailers may earn us a commission when you make a purchase, at no extra cost to you. Our recommendations are not for sale, and we will note affiliate relationships where they appear.

What we don't collect

We don't require or offer user accounts. We don't run a newsletter or collect email addresses through the site. We don't sell, rent, or trade personal data to anyone. The only personal information we receive is what you choose to send us directly by email.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site adds tools or changes how it works. Material changes will appear on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.

One more note

Results from our calculators are planning estimates, not professional advice. Building codes and site conditions vary by location. Confirm structural work, such as deck framing or fence post depth, with your local permit office or a licensed contractor before you build.
