By using Yard & Board, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

What Yard & Board provides

Yard & Board offers free calculators for home and yard projects, including mulch, topsoil, board feet, deck boards, fence, and deck stain. All calculators run in your browser. We do not collect or store the numbers you enter.

Planning estimates only, not professional advice

Yard & Board's calculators are for general planning. They are not engineering, architectural, or professional construction advice, and they do not replace a site visit or a licensed professional's judgment.

Results are estimates built from published formulas and sourced data, described on our methodology page. No formula can account for every yard's soil, slope, or local conditions. For structural work, including posts, footings, decks, and walls, building codes and site conditions vary by location. Confirm requirements with your local permit office or a licensed contractor before you build. Do not treat a Yard & Board result as the final word on a project that affects the safety or structure of your home.

No warranty

Yard & Board is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the site will be error-free, uninterrupted, or accurate for your particular project. We do not warrant that results will meet your expectations or that any defect will be corrected.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Yard & Board is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or reliance on a calculator result. This includes direct, indirect, incidental, and consequential damages. Use Yard & Board at your own risk, and confirm structural decisions with a licensed contractor or your local permit office.

Intellectual property

The text, design, calculators, and data tables on Yard & Board belong to Yard & Board unless otherwise noted. You may view and use the site for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not scrape, copy, republish, or redistribute Yard & Board's content, calculators, or data tables without our written permission. You may not use automated tools to extract data from the site beyond normal browsing.

Links to other sites

Yard & Board may link to third-party websites for reference or convenience, including manufacturer spec sheets and university extension resources cited on our methodology page. A link is not an endorsement. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices. Review the terms and privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.

We do not run affiliate links today. If we add them, some links may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Our recommendations are not for sale.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Yard & Board grows. When we do, we will revise the effective date below. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
